What is a Twitch Raid?

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

Twitch offers several options for streamers to support each other and allow each other to get more views. Within the scope of alternative collaboration options are hosting, group broadcasts, and raids. If you're new to the latter option, don't worry. This article describes what a raid is, how to perform it, and how raids can help content authors.

We have a great community of players and esports sectors, and thanks to Twitch marketing with influencers, we can greatly boost our brand. It's important to know how the new platform works to adapt to your digital strategy and how to promote your Twitch channel.

Twitch's raid option allows streamers to direct viewers to other channels after the broadcast is complete. This option is a great way to network on your platform, connect with other streamers, and grow their community in both directions. Sounds good. let's start!

How do raids work on Twitch?

The first thing you need to know when performing a RAID is that when you complete a live broadcast, you and your entire viewer will be redirected to another channel to broadcast. This is a way to support other streamers, especially those with few followers.

Raids have several advantages. On the other hand, it helps raise awareness of other streamers. On the other hand, we are showing favor to viewers by recommending additional content so that they can continue to enjoy it on another channel after the transition. It's all great, but I haven't explained how to harvest it yet. I will explain from now on.

How do you raid Twitch?

To understand the RAID process, divide it into the following steps.

It's a good idea to warn your viewers before embarking on RAID. It looks very simple, but no one likes to be taken to the channel without warning. To start RAID, enter the command "/ raid" followed by the name of the channel that sends the viewer. For example, "/ raidIbaillanos" if you want to send it to Ibai. Don't forget to put a space between the command and the name. Another option is to click Start RAID to Channel in Control Panel and select a channel from the list of suggestions or search for a specific channel. Enter the command and the 10-second countdown will start. After these seconds, the user will be able to activate the "Start Hunting Now" button. If you do not manually cancel or initiate the attack, the command will be initiated automatically. Click Start Raid on the selected channel and the viewer will see the live broadcast of the selected transmitter. Viewers can stop the broadcast at any time.

Control of raids as a streamer

Raids are almost always a very positive option for streamers, but they can also be used for harmful purposes, such as criticizing someone else or posting a negative comment on another streamer's chat. Therefore, streamers can continue to control intrusions arriving at the channel through several options.

Manage accounts that can attack your channel. By default, the Twitch channel is open to anyone who wants RAID. However, you can set privacy in the Profile Control Panel. You can disable all raids or allow only friends and colleagues. Enable follower-only chat. If RAID is started and you see derogatory or annoying remarks, you do not need to end the broadcast. You have the option to activate the chat just for your friends. In addition, Twitch has the option to set a minimum time by filtering followers to comment based on how long you're following. For example, you can choose to comment only if you have been following you for at least a month. To do this, go to the icon, set the chat to appear in the message window, and click the Followers Only option. Report the RAID channel. As with any social network, you have the option of reporting inappropriate content. To report the channel that overwhelmed you, go to the chat settings and check for recent raids. Then identify the channels you want to ban and click Report.

In this way, you have better control over your channels by controlling who supports your growth and blocking negative behavior that doesn't benefit your community.

Differences: Host vs. Raid

Both options have the same purpose. That is, to visualize another channel and help it grow. However, there are some clear differences between the host and the assault, as described below.

On the one hand, as mentioned earlier, the attack is much faster because the action is automatically performed by simply entering the channel name after the command/attack. On the other hand, the hosting process is much slower.

On the other hand, if someone presents your broadcast and chat, you will be presented to another channel. That is, when a user enters the channel that houses you, you will see your stream. Conversely, with RAID, they move to your channel when the broadcast ends.

Now that you know what a Twitch attack is and how to do it, you can use this tool to help other content creators grow the streamer community. By uniting we become stronger!
